Do you love Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers and think of yourself as an ambassador for the Breed? Interested in becoming a member of SCWTCA?
The following procedures will start you on your way:
- Please download the application forms on this page or contact the Membership Chair to request that a membership packet be mailed to you.
- The application forms can be filled out and printed directly from your computer, but
with dual applications, each member of the household must complete their
- Applicants need to identify what Membership Type is sought.
- Applicants must be sponsored by SCWTCA members in good standing.
- Individual, Dual and International memberships require Sponsor Forms from two (2) SCWTCA members in good standing who have been personally well acquainted with you for at least two (2) years prior to the application.
- Associate memberships require Sponsor Forms from one (1) SCWTCA sponsor that has known you for at least one (1) year.
- Junior memberships require Sponsor Forms from one (1) SCWTCA sponsor that has known you for at least two (2) years.
- Applicants must have OFA numbers or PennHIP ratings and current CERF Registry numbers for all of your dogs over two (2) years old unless you indicate that you do not intend to breed them.
- The Application for Membership and all Sponsor forms must be completed within six (6) months of each other and must be submitted together to the Membership Chair.
- Upon receipt of the complete application and sponsor forms, applications will be published online to SCWTCA membership a minimum of thirty (30) days prior to being reviewed by the SCWTCA Board for possible admittance to the Club.
Additional Guidelines: Each sponsor must submit a separate form. Sponsors may be the same for each applicant, but no two members of the same household or two immediate family members, kennel partners, or two Board Members may sponsor an applicant.
SCWTCA Membership Types
Membership is open to all persons in good standing with the American Kennel Club who support the objectives of the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier Club of America, Inc. (SCWTCA) and subscribe to the Constitution & Bylaws and Code of Ethics of SCWTCA. Types of Membership available to apply for:
Two membership categories enjoy all Club privileges and include the right to hold office and serve on the Nominating Committee. All of these membership types have Breeders List Privileges. These memberships count towards the determination of a quorum. Applications require the signature and recommendation of two voting members that the applicant has known for two years.
- INDIVIDUAL membership is open to US residents 18 years of age or older, carries one vote, and pays dues.
- DUAL membership is open to two adults residing in the same US household, carries two votes, and pays modified dues.
There are three non-voting memberships that enjoy all club privileges except the right to hold office or serve on the Nominating Committee. These shall not count in the determination of a quorum.
- ASSOCIATE membership is open to all individuals 18 years of age or older who may not yet qualify for individual membership but support the mission of SCWTCA and pay modified dues. Associate applicants will complete the current membership application with the notation of applying for Associate membership. Upon application, the signature and recommendation of one voting member is required that the applicant has known for one year. After 24 months of continuous membership, the Associate member(s) may apply for full membership. The Associate member does not have Breeders List Privileges..
- INTERNATIONAL: Applicants who do not reside in the United States may apply for International membership. Applicants will complete the current membership application. Since International Members have Breeders List privileges they must have two sponsors that they have known for 24 months.
- JUNIOR membership is open to individuals under 18 years of age and pay modified dues. Junior members who have maintained continuous membership for at least 24 months and have reached their 18th birthday may apply for voting member status. Applicants for Junior membership must have one sponsor that they have known for 24 months.
